Revelation 21:22-27 says:
I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
John, says that “The New Heaven and Earth will have a capital city, a specific place where the presence of God will be centered and where the Lord Jesus Christ will rule the universe.”
And so, even amongst terroristic attacks, horrific industrial accidents, and other situations like: Hurricanes, Tsunamis, floods, fires and tornados, volcanos and earthquakes, all who love the Lord Jesus Christ , who have faithfully turned their life over to Him, no longer have to live in fear. We’ve read the last book and we know that God wins. Truth wins. Justice wins. And God wins.
And as long as we remain faithful to God and the purpose He has for each one of us in this lifetime, we need not live in fear. Because one day God will gather together the true meaning of all things. He will gather together things like: Our turning to Him , our striving to move closer to Him, the acknowledgment of our need for Him, and our sincere efforts to serve Him.
God will gather together all the things in this lifetime that glorify Him, and bring them with us into an Eternal place. When? On the last day when we will receive our promised Resurrected bodies, being then fully equipped, to be with our Lord and our God forever. That’s what’s at the very heart of the Christian faith.
And so those who claim Jesus as Lord and Savior, surrendering all areas of life to Him, can say with the same confidence of John the apostle, that: Jesus Christ, the Alpha and the Omega, will take care of His own. And where will He do that? Well, scripture gives us the name of a City: It is the “New Jerusalem.” What will the city be like? It is indescribable. It’s humanly impossible to describe it. I mean, how can we?
Even so, I’m looking forward to joining all of God’s faithful there, on the last day. How about you?
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, God’s promised New city. May we all place our faith FULLY and FIRMLY in God’s plan for salvation through Jesus Christ, so that we will be among those who will experience the Eternal City, promised to God’s faithful.
